What is the biggest characteristic of a cross-flow fan?

The biggest characteristic of the cross-flow fan is that the fluid flows through the fan impeller twice, the fluid flows in the radial direction and then flows out in the radial direction. Because of the cross-flow fan’s simple structure, small volume, high dynamic pressure Coefficient, and long-distance, widely used in laser equipment, air conditioning, air curtain equipment, dryer, hairdryer, home appliances equipment, and a grain combine harvester.



What is the surge phenomenon of cross-flow fans?

Cross-flow fan has a very complex internal structure. Although the circumferential direction of the impeller is symmetric, the airflow is asymmetric, the relative velocity field and the absolute velocity field are unstable, the flow medium enters the impeller twice, and the flow condition of the rotor impeller changes continuously along the circumferential direction. There is a vortex on the inner side of the impeller which can control the whole flow of air, which is called the eccentric vortex of the cross-flow fan. It is the existence of the eccentric vortex that causes the cross-flow fan that the center of the vortex flows around the impeller and moves along the circumference depending on the throttling conditions. Under certain working conditions, the cross-flow fan at high speed can not discharge or inhale the air normally because of the control force of the Eccentric Vortex, so the test system appears abnormal condition, which is called surge phenomenon. If the area of the vent is small, the resistance of the resistance layer is large, and the flow rate in the pipe is small, the work requirement of the cross-flow fan is low, and the effect of the eccentric vortex is not obvious under the small flow rate. But when the speed is high and the area of the vent is large, the control force of the eccentric vortex is strengthened, the gas in the cross-flow fan can not be discharged or inhaled normally, the test system is abnormal, the cross-flow fan appears to surge phenomenon, and there is surge period.
